That much copy is required when making a difficult sale. BUT it’s not just a matter of length. It’s all about how you utilize all that material to build a successful sales argument that moves your prospect from the dialogue they’re currently having in their brain to taking action on your offer.
When you hear about copy that produces millions, tens of millions, or more… And you look at it and say to yourself, “That’s a big sales letter; how could I write all that in a way that people would really read?”
The trick is that the A-list copywriter behind it is familiar with the deep structure of selling ideas that succeed – in any media.
In reality, once you understand the structure of successful copy, it becomes second nature!
Long or short copies? Any medium. Suitable for any market. Once you grasp what’s going on beneath the surface, you’ll be able to easily develop successful marketing messages.

The Makepeace framework, which I later posted (with Clayton’s permission), served as an excellent beginning point. But it took a lot of interpreting. It took a slew of extra levels of comprehension layered on top.
Furthermore, while it works in many situations, there are other outlines and copy structures that have worked just as well for me and other copywriters and marketers like me. Not only that, but important factors such as hammering down your major concept are not covered in the 20 points.
So, ever since I first got my grubby little claws on Clayton’s blueprint in 2009, I’ve been looking for comparable shortcuts I might employ. In addition, for methods to fill in the specifics that went beyond what was captured on that one sheet of paper.
I made notes. I picked up tips from others. I searched for areas where other professionals’ guidance overlapped with Clayton’s blueprint, as well as areas where their counsel was distinctive.
And, in my own job generating very effective content for customers, I aggressively tried every thought, principle, approach, technique, and tactic I could uncover.
As a result, I learned strategies to create better content while also writing quicker!
