Lung Cancer Screening Update: Goals
Following this lecture, attendees will: 1. Understand the screening criteria for lung cancer. 2. Understand the risks and advantages of lung cancer screening; and 3. Be aware of the services available locally to help with lung cancer screening. Our Teens Are the Targets of Vaping: Goals
Participants will: 1. Understand the health consequences of electronic cigarette usage and nicotine on teens as a result of this presentation. 2. Recognize the marketing strategies employed by Big Tobacco to attract teenagers to use electronic cigarettes.
Dr. Morin completed his residency in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Maine Medical Center in 2008 and is currently working with Southern Maine Health Care. He has a specific interest in COPD and has spent the last year or two assisting in the development of a lung cancer screening program for our institution. Since 2017, he has been on the committee of a MaineHealth thoracic oncology work group. This includes statewide successful lung cancer screening programs. Dr. Jonathan Fellers

Jonathan Fellers, MD graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science in chemistry and from Cornell University Medical College with his medical degree. He finished his psychiatric residency at the University of Virginia, where he worked extensively in the Student Counseling Department and served as top resident in 2011. He completed an addiction psychiatry fellowship at Oregon Health and Science University, where he conducted outreach and preventative addiction programs at Reed College. After graduation, he stayed in Portland, Oregon to teach at OHSU and serve as an addiction psychiatrist for the Portland VA Health Care System. In September 2015, Dr. Fellers joined the Maine Medical Center Department of Psychiatry to lead the new Integrated Medication-Assisted Therapy Program (IMAT). Dr. Fellers is the Maine Tobacco Helpline’s medical director and the clinical lead for co-occurring disorders at Maine Medical Center Outpatient Psychiatry. Dr. Fellers is a member of the MaineHealth Opioid Taskforce, which includes treatment, implementation, and prenatal committees.

MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence’s Director of Prevention and Training
Kristen McAuley is the MaineHealth Center for Tobacco Independence’s Director of Prevention and Training. She is in charge of several initiatives aimed at reducing and eliminating the impact of tobacco use and exposure. She was formerly the Assistant Director for the Division of Disease Prevention at the Maine CDC, where she was in charge of community-based, tobacco and obesity prevention, as well as school health, dental health, and maternity and child health. She has expertise reviewing local and statewide mental health, criminal justice, and child welfare services, having served in all three arms of state government.
