8Dio Studio Steel Drum is a very deep-sampled Steel Drum.

The instrument has almost 55.000 samples, 5 real vintage microphone locations, and 2 world-class reverbs (Bricasti & TC6000).

The 8Dio Studio Steel Drum was created exclusively for 8Dio. We intended the instrument to encompass all ranges, from bass to high, but to do it inside a single Steel Drum. We sampled the instrument using several mallet kinds (for example, Beaters, Felt Mallet, Brushes, Hands, Nails, Rattles, FX, and so on) at up to ten velocity layers and ten repeats.

We recorded the instrument using four antique microphones: Neumann, Neve, Coles, and Royers. In addition, a mixed microphone position is given as the default choice.

Everything was meticulously recorded and processed at 24bit/96k in our British Studio on a classic bespoke Neve console before being meticulously down sampled to 48k for ease of streaming. Rubber beaters and felt mallets, as well as brushes and hands, were used to capture the main material. We also tried both prepared and percussive tactics. All with different dynamics and repetitions to provide maximum realism.

In addition to all of this, the library provides you complete control over the dynamic response and tonal aspects, allowing you to tune in the exact sound for you.

We gave you complete control over the resonance, ambient tone, keyboard responsiveness, and transient form.
