Mario Flores is the founder and President of Top Notch Coaching, LLC, an executive and professional business coaching firm specialized in Financial Executive and Financial Professional Leadership Coaching. Prior to his retirement, he worked at Verizon/GTE for almost 36 years, including over 18 years at the Executive Leadership Level in Finance and Operations. Mario possesses exceptional business understanding as a result of a career that has progressed from professional discipline to company leader. His professional development is based on solid financial foundations in Accounting, Regulatory, and Financial Planning, as well as business fundamentals in Business Analysis, Supply Chain Management, Retail Markets, and Operations. During his four-decade career in the competitive telecommunications business, he has held large, countrywide senior leadership responsibilities and gained a diverse variety of financial and nonfinancial skills.
He is an experienced Executive and Professional coach in both “for-profit” and “non-profit” organizations as an International Coach Federation (ICF) Professional Certified Coach (PCC). Coaching, leadership, behavioral self-awareness, business acumen, strategic thinking for results-driven execution, accountability models, multi-functional and end-to-end process viewpoints, and an understanding of the evolution of the “Professional to Business Partner to Business Leader” evolution are among Mario’s core competencies.
Mario holds a BBA in Accounting and an MBA in Management from Angelo State University, is a Texas CPA, a Certified Winslow Research Institute Coach, and a Certified Conflict Dynamics Profile Consultant.
Mario is also on the faculty of the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD) Executive MBA Program and the Global Leadership Executive MBA Program, as well as an external executive coach in the UTD Masters in Management and Administrative Sciences/UT Southwestern/THR/Parkland Healthcare Organization Leadership Program. Mario is a Faculty member and Moderator for the nationwide broadcasting Business Professionals’ Network, Inc./Accounting CPE Network (ACPEN). He appeared in the April 2012 issue of Financial Executive Magazine, a product of Financial Executives International (FEI).
Mario is passionate about giving back to the community. He has served on several boards, including the National Society of Hispanic MBAs’ Corporate Advisory Board, the Christian Community Action (CCA) Board of Directors, and Parenting Alone. He has given speeches at Angelo State University, the University of North Texas, the University of Texas at Dallas, Nanjing University in China, the United Nations, The Financial Executives International Dallas Chapter, and other non-profit organizations.
